With a season past, unable to river cruise, the beloved Emerald Waterways has selected a few favourite meals from destinations guests can visit with the river cruising company. Experiencing different local flavours whilst sailing along the river is one of the highlights of river cruising. Guests can be inspired to create these meals in their own homes while awaiting their 2021/22 river cruise to taste the authentic dish in the local setting.

Starter – Bucharest’s sarmale 

Considered to be Romania’s national dish, these cabbage rolls are made of minced meat pork mixed with herbs and rice, rolled into sour cabbage leaves and baked. This delicious meal is almost always served hot with Mamaliga (polenta) and some sour cream on the side.
